Brewing the perfect espresso isn’t just for coffee shop pros anymore. With the right tools and a little knowledge, anyone can make rich, flavorful espresso at home. In this blog, we’ll break down the basics — from bean selection to machine settings — so even total beginners can start pulling café-quality shots.
Espresso relies on high-quality beans. Choose medium-to-dark roasts specifically labeled for espresso. Grind size matters too — too coarse and your espresso will be weak, too fine and it may taste bitter or not extract properly.
Most home machines work best with 18–20g of ground coffee. Use a burr grinder to get consistent size, and experiment until you find a setting that yields balanced flavor in about 25–30 seconds.
You'll need a good tamper, a reliable espresso machine, and ideally a scale and timer. Consistency is key — tamp evenly and firmly every time.
Don’t worry if your first few shots aren’t perfect. Every espresso enthusiast started somewhere. Take notes, taste critically, and enjoy the process!
